Christmas 2014

Christmas 2014

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, I want to thank everyone who attended our Bipolar Insights Christmas party — it was so much fun with all the good food and laughter. A huge thank you to our committee who organized, created games and made us all feel welcomed at our party. This year our Fundraising and Marketing Committee raised more money to fund Bipolar Insights than we have ever received. A big applause for them! I want to personally thank everyone for my wonderful, much needed gifts. I was presented with a trip to Time Out Spa and several spa items to enjoy afterwards. I have wanted to go to the spa for several years and always had it on the bottom of the list (I should practice what I preach LOL). I am truly humbled and appreciate your love and kindness. Thank you for all your e-mails, cards and letters I have received, beautiful words of encouragement and love, I am so blessed and thankful. Till next year when we meet again, see you in January! Sending lots of love,Marcia Just a reminder: Bipolar Insights will be CLOSEDChristmas * Sunday & Monday, December 21st & 22nd, 2014New Year * Sunday & Monday, December 28th & 29th, 2014Resume classes Sunday & Monday, January 4th & 5th, 2015Click here for a list of the 2015 scheduled...

Self Awareness

Self Awareness

May 2014 Being self-aware allows you to distinguish between symptoms of bipolar disorder, your personality, dysfunction, coping skills, and learned behavior. This is crucial, because when you explain your symptoms to your psychiatrist, you have to be able to differentiate what are actual symptoms of bipolar disorder and what are other issues. Your personality, behavior, and dysfunction affect how you view bipolar disorder — you must “know” yourself in order to make the distinction. Just because you laugh hysterically does not necessarily mean you’re in mania. And, if you want to lay on the couch all day and eat junk food does not necessarily mean you’re depressed. All behavior problems are not created because you have bipolar disorder. There are many factors that make up who you are. Being self-aware helps you to work on each area of your life individually. You are a unique individual, special and perfect in every way. No one has the ability to “know” you as you know yourself. So use it to your...
